Three MJHS Health System Leaders Promoted to Senior Vice President
MJHS Health System is pleased to announce that effective immediately, Susan Lage, Laurie Chichester and Joyce Palmieri are all promoted to Senior Vice President. Each brings extensive experience in the delivery of quality care, continuous improvement, as well as customer service. They also possess a strong track record of operational excellence and are dedicated to the mission of the organization and committed to the staff they serve.
Susan Lage, LCSW, CHPCA, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Business Development, MJHS Hospice and Palliative Care, and is assuming full leadership of both Hospice and Home Care Business Development Departments.
Susan joined MJHS in 2009 as a Social Worker. Ten years ago, she transitioned into Business Development where she had oversight and responsibility for the Access Center, Admission RN’s and the Business Development team. Susan’s commitment, expertise, and ability to build business-to-business relationships has helped propel MJHS Hospice to increased census levels. She is also playing an active role in our increased cross-agency initiatives. Prior to MJHS, Susan practiced as a licensed therapist for 7 years. She is an active Board Member of the NY State Hospice and Palliative Care Association, Vice Chair for the Governance Committee and Lead for the Palliative Care Committee. Prior to entering the health care sector, Susan worked for ten years as a Senior Account Manager for Sigma Advertising and Stan Adler Marketing & Communications.
Laurie Chichester, PT, MS, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of MJHS Business Administration and is now responsible for a broader range of business operations.
Laurie, a physical therapist by training, joined MJHS in 1992 as Director of Rehab for what is now MJHS Home Care. During the next 29 years she assumed progressive management and leadership roles across MJHS. Laurie became VP of Home Care when we acquired the NY Presbyterian home care business. Then in 2018, her responsibilities were expanded to include business operations, volunteer services and medical records for MJHS Hospice, in addition to continuing her role within MJHS Home Care. In August 2020, Laurie’s responsibilities were further expanded across MJHS to include oversight of business operations for the MJHS Medical Associates, PC. Prior to MJHS, Laurie worked at NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn (formerly Lutheran Medical Center) for 5 years.
Joyce Palmieri, MS, BSN, RN, CHPN, FPCN, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Clinical Services, MJHS Hospice and Palliative Care. In this role, Joyce will oversee all aspects of the clinical operations of the Hospice program, including oversight of Quality Management.
Joyce joined MJHS in 2010 to oversee operations of the hospice program, including oversight of all clinical teams, facilitating clinical practice, creating policies and procedures as well as leading all surveys with the Department of Health. During the past year, Joyce has also taken on a greater role in cross-agency initiatives, such as providing education on advance care planning and more for the Elderplan/HomeFirst teams. Prior to MJHS, she had 30+ years of experience as Director of Patient Services for VNS Hospice of Suffolk and Nurse Manager at Beth Israel Medical Center’s Continuum, Jacob Perlow Hospice, with their Department of Pain Management and Palliative Care. Joyce achieved the advanced status of Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing in 2020 and has been an active member of the Palliative Care Committee for Molloy College for the past 9 years.
